Gungrave: Overdose is the direct sequel to Gungrave, and the second mainline installment in the Gungrave series developed by animation studio Ikusabune Co., Ltd. and published by Red Entertainment in Japan and by Mastiff in North America. The game was released on March 4, 2004 in Japan, September 15, 2004 in North America and October 7, 2005 in the PAL regions. Gungrave: Overdose picks up where its predecessor left off, and follows its main character through a variety of stages on a path of revenge. It is the only known title fully developed by animation studio Ikusabune, as the previous title was developed by Red Entertainment. (Ikusabune provided animation and cinematics in the first game.)

Two years after the original, Gungrave, and just approaching of that game's anime adaptation, Gungrave: Overdose was released. Preserving Yasuhiro Nightow's flair and artistic style, this outing adds new playable characters to the series and a new story, in which Grave resumes his tale as an unlikely anti-hero tracking down the sadistic son of a Mafia boss who has struck a deal with a symbiotic seed bent on taking over the Earth.

Story[]

“Stop Harry MacDowell...”

It all started with two guns delivered by a desperate young girl. The girl’s name was Mika Asagi. It was war from the instant the silent man known as Beyond the Grave picked up those guns.

Grave used the Cerberus guns and a coffin filled with heavy weapons to fight against the crime syndicate called the Millennion, and its leader, Harry MacDowell. The Millennion controlled the mysterious drug known as Seed, making Grave's battle against the syndicate a difficult one, but he was eventually victorious. And so the Millennion was destroyed, and Seed vanished from the world.

At last, Mika and Grave could relax... But this peace was not to last. The terrible scourge known as Seed had appeared once again.

A hail of bullets.

An endless stream of attacking enemies.

Facing a hopeless future, Beyond the Grave once again opens his eyes. And so, a symphony of gunfire begins, as Grave fights to destroy the evil that threatens those he has sworn to protect...
